Safety and Security
What happens if my pet becomes ill while boarding?
We collect emergency contact information as well as veterinarian information. We contact you to inform you of you pet’s condition so you can lead the decision-making. We do ask that you are available at all times in case of emergency.
Do you have any requirements for flea and tick prevention?
For the well-being of all dogs, your dog must be free of all communicable conditions. This includes fleas, ticks, mange, kennel cough, etc.
What happens if my pet doesn’t get along with other animals?
We provide you with resources to help your dog become more socialized. If your dog shows aggression to the point where our staff does not feel safe, we will require time for your dog to be well-socialized in order to stay at The Barkyard.
Do dogs ever get hurt?
Dogs tend to get excited, especially during playtime. It is possible for dogs to sustain very minor injuries such as small scratches, nicks, or lose a bit of fur. We provide full-time care and will take your pet to their vet or an emergency vet for any serious injury.
Are you prepared in case of an illness or injury?
Yes, we will collect all veterinarian information upon registration to make sure we know where to take your pet in case of emergency.
Why aren’t toys allowed in the play yards?
Your dog’s personal toys are just that: their own. They will enjoy their toys during private time (nap time and feeding time). Toys will remain in your dog’s personal space. Our goal is to reduce the risk of dogs becoming protective over their favorite toy which can risk injury.
